Contextual Storyteller
Narrative Specialist
About
From bustling TV newsrooms to some of sports’ greatest venues, my work is driven by a passion for storytelling and a commitment to excellence.
As a career journalist, I’ve made a difference sharing late-breaking news and by spotlighting athlete moments and innovative breakthroughs in the world of sports. A lifelong Oregonian, I share a passion for the environment and urban life–while holding a deep respect for rural farms like the one I grew up on in Yamhill county.
At its core, I strive to craft compelling and impactful content. With experience in journalism, newsroom management and global brand storytelling, I bring a unique blend of purpose and creativity to every project. My mission is to transform the complex into captivating stories on any platform that resonate with audiences.
Expert Creative
More Than Content
Contextual Content
When I learned that Nike’s first employee had preserved a massive collection of press passes and athlete photographs dating back to the 1960s, I saw an opportunity for context. I created a narrative layered in themes to capture an enduring history. The results were entirely new plotlines to study and share.
Storytelling Mastery
Transforming complex information into compelling and easy-to-understand stories is a craft. Research is the catalyst that sparks the process of building a narrative. I’ve done this using various media, including network TV and social media platforms.
Strategic Planning
Strategic planning to execute content drives results to maximize impact. From thousands of items and anecdotes–and with careful curation–authentic history is recorded for the future. A race around the track is never just a test of who’s fastest.
Storytelling
U.S. Women’s National Team midfielder Rose Lavelle shares insights from her years of international play and career in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL).
Sneaker Culture expert Robbie Williams and Joe await their cue to discuss the beginnings of the Nike Air Max franchise and its place in contemporary sneaker lore.
Joe shares the history of Nike Football with the Oregon Ducks, coaches and staff to explain why Eugene is a laboratory for innovation and inspirtation.
Proven Leadership
I believe in the power of words and voice and the impact of well-crafted narratives.
Dedicated to staying ahead of industry trends and embracing new ideas, I hope to create impactful stories that resonate.
I am a natural team leader with a focus on mentoring, knowledge sharing, and fostering a creative and artistic approach to problem-solving.
To illustrate how track and field history intersects with celebrated athlete Steve Prefontaine, I lead teams with a spirit to inform and inspire. Here, we are at the hallowed ground of Pre’s Rock, one of many moments that have evolved the legacy of TrackTown USA.

His dedication to his work, to our department and to his colleagues was truly inspirational, and his passion for journalism and for sports is deep. I strongly encourage you to include Joe among the candidates to be interviewed and see for yourself why I am so emphatic about him.”
